Unfortunately the StroodCam camera is experiencing some technical issues at the moment.... It should be back up and running by 29th June
Why StroodCam.co.uk?
StroodCam uses the latest camera technology to allow you to see live video of The Strood, West Mersea, Essex. Now we can all check to see whether or not the traffic is crossing.
Mother Nature doesn't always pay attention to the tide times and tidal height predictions - meaning sometimes the Strood is passable at high tide when the tide table says it shouldn't be and vice versa. StroodCam lets you see when that happens.
View live video - make sure you click on the 'View live video' link at the bottom right hand of the picture to get the live video feed from the camera. You can choose from one of eight views. Just select from the ‘choose view’ drop-down list, then press ‘change view’.
Please bear in mind that these views are weather dependant - high winds can make the camera shake and affect the focus, fog or haze limit visibility...
Technical things....
ActiveX control - The first time you visit StroodCam.co.uk you may be asked to install an ActiveX control. This allows your computer to access the live video feed and does not pose any danger to your computer or the information stored on it.
Flash Player - You will need a fairly recent version of the Macromedia Flash Player. If you are having problems seeing the video you may need to download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
